Eternal: that which is without beginning and end — that which always has been and always will be.
Join us for the next few weeks as we begin a series on the topic of eternal life. The posts will present New Testament scriptures about eternal life. We encourage you to read the entire chapter for each scriptural text presented because the Word of God has much more to say than what we present on these pages. As you meditate on the Word of God, listen for His still, small voice – full of grace and truth.
Today’s reading is: John 10:27-28
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall any one snatch them out of My hand.” (NKJV)
My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from my hand. (NET)
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” (NASB)
Think about the scriptural text you just read and take from it what the Lord wants to give you. Repeat the text to yourself. Memorize it. Allow it to sink into you.
Talk to the Lord about what you discovered during your time of reflection. Ask Him to reveal the true meaning of the scripture to you and how you can apply it to your life.
Finally, simply rest in the Word of God and in His presence. Abide in the Lord and allow Him to abide in you by and through His Word.
